BIG BREAKTHROUGH AT KANSAS CITY TRIATHLON
In just his second race of 2012, Nathan showed vast improvement over his season debut
three weeks ago, claiming sixth at the Kansas City Triathlon with a time of 1:54:47.
Estimating that a dropped bike chain took him about thirty seconds to repair, Nathan
might reasonably have finished as high as fourth without the pit stop--he was only 10
seconds behind fifth place and 32 seconds out of fourth. Nevertheless, the sixth-place
showing was Nathan's highest-ever finish in a professional triathlon, bettering his
performance at the Capital of Texas Triathlon in 2011, where he finished ninth.
Nathan will now head further south for a couple of races in Texas. The Capital of Texas
Triathlon is on Memorial Day (May 28) in Austin and the Dallas ITU Pan-Am Cup race is the
following Saturday (June 2).
